Writing your Motivational Speaker Book

In becoming a Motivational Speaker it is important to have a book authored by you. There are lots of ways to go about getting this accomplished but step one is a mental shift. Commit to the fact that you do indeed have a motivational speaker book to write. This is very important, as you will inevitably struggle through many obstacles. You must persevere in mining your own passion as the key to that.

Question number One: What book do you have inside you?

Commit to a place of writing. I wrote my first book in Big Sur, Ca. It took many trips, but because I conditioned myself to write there, creativity soared each time I arrived there. I have a friend in Atlanta who just finished his first book. He wrote it in his local library. He noticed that when he arrived at his table in the library, ideas began flowing.

Question number Two: What location will be your center for creative thought?

Walk, walk, walk. It refreshes the body, mind and soul. Sam

Horn, best-selling author, muses, “When we walk, angels whisper to us.”

Find the unique message in your book, and exploit it.

Question number Three: What message in your book is not available in print? (Hint: think personal experience) Avoid the trap of perfection. Too many writers get overwhelmed with the reality that the words of their book will live forever. Sometimes even paragraphs are worded and re- worded so many times it drains the writer, and quenches the creativity. Write what you believe…and keep writing. You can change things later in your book, or even share your new insights in a following book. Just write! Spend a lot of time on the title. Believe me – it makes a big difference. Include marketing in your book! I have a friend who, in his book, includes positive comments on products, as part of the story line. (The comfortable ride in the BMW, the perfect taste of the Miller Light beer,

etc. He then approaches those organizations to buy his book as a give-away that endorses their product.) I once mentioned a friend of mine was a great example of integrity. He was a real-estate agent. He bought a hundred copies to give to potential clients.

Question number Four: When will you start? Get Started Now! Everyone has a book inside them. Most are even planning to “write it all down”…one day. Very few ever do. In your motivational speaking Job think of your book as just a necessary part of the package of what you offer you clients. (Much more to come later – Good Luck!)

Be an AWEsome Motivational Speaker

Become a Motivational Speaker

To really motivate others in your motivational speaker jobs you have to be in Awe yourself.

“Sell your cleverness, and purchase bewilderment.” – Rumi

I have never cared for the saying, “Been there; done that; bought the T-shirt.” It never struck me as funny. And, sadly, people who live their lives that way rarely even smile.  Albert Einstein once shared, “There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”   Frankly, “miraculous” living makes be smile. While living in Arizona, I delighted in taking my visiting friends to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the immense Grand Canyon. One week I had the privilege of taking two of my closer friends. One of them was wide-eyed with amazement, while the other seemed nonchalant. Imagine you are on that trip with us, right now. Listen to my friends’ comments and notice your reaction. “Wow!  This is spectacular!” “Yeah, it’s OK, I guess.” “I have never seen anything like this!” “The Hawaiian island of Kauai also has a grand canyon.  I saw it a few years ago.” A sense of awe not only energizes you, it does the same for those around you. After that trip, I have always felt a bit closer to my friend who has chosen to be “in awe.”
